ネイサンズ、事件です！
もう既にあちこちで話題になって食傷気味なのだが、例の事件である。
オタがキモいかキモくないか、もうそんな事はどうでもいい。
ネイサンズの公式HPの謝罪文書に、「『人種の坩堝』ニューヨークから来たネイサンズは、様々な国籍・価値観をお持ちのお客様に長年愛され続けています。」と、まるでオタと黒人を同一視するような表現があるのは、いくら何でも黒人に失礼ではないか？という議論で一説ぶとうとしたが、それもどうでも良くなった。
そもそも「大量オタ」「ぶぁぁぁぁあって」という表現に一種の違和感を感じていたのである。
いや、これは今回の事件で初めて感じた違和感ではない。
前からそんな感じはしていたのが、この事件でより顕著になったと言うべきか。
「オタク」を標榜する輩が徐々にウスくなっていくのを感じていたのである。
「オタク」を意味する単語には「マニア」と言う意味が含まれている。
「鉄道オタク」は「鉄道マニア」と言い換える事が出来るし、「ガンダムオタク」は「ガンダムマニア」である。
マニアは大量にはいない。ぶぁぁぁぁあっともいない。
あくまで少数派であるべきなのだ。
このままオタクの蔓延化が進めばどういう事になるか？
誰しもがオタクを名乗れるようになるのである。
「電車男」のヒットで「オタク割引」なるものを始めた映画館もある。
どう見てもヨボヨボのジジイが杖付いて入って来てオタクだと言い張れば割引になるのだ。
特権でも何でもない。
エセオタクが蔓延し、エセオタク団体が勝手にフィギアを送りつけ、「代金払わないとキモい事しますよ」と脅す悪徳商法が出て来るかも知れない。
リュックを背負って度の強い眼鏡さえかければ良いと言うものでもない。
オタクにはオタク知識というものが必要なのだ。
鉄道オタクなら、「キハ５１」という単語が日常会話として使われていなければならない。
オタクなら、それぞれの専門分野において、ほっといても１時間は勝手に喋り続けられるだけの知識が必要なのだ。
うわ事のように「アムロ萌え」とか繰り返すだけの奴はオタクとは呼べない。タダのバカか、もしくは安室奈美恵のファンだけだ。
オタク割引などやるなら「ギレンの演説を暗唱してみろ！」とか課題を与えるぐらいの事はやるべきではないのか？
まあ、そういう事を考えると「オタクはキモい」という認識を社会に与えて、一億総オタク化という由々しき事態に一種のブレーキをかけたという点では評価するべきなのかも知れない。
